Marler Students Provide Volunteer Services

October marked one year that Betty Marler students have provided volunteer services to the Jeffco Action Center. The Jeffco Action Center is now serving more than 28,000 individuals each year.  In 2013 the Action Center distributed 60,969 five-day supplies of food, provided 5,995 nights of shelter and helped 4,068 children through Santa Shop. Betty Marler students assist with these services through weekly trips to the center to provide assistance in the unloading of food trucks, sorting of food items, and basic clean up. Our students have also participated in the school supply distribution program sponsored by the Center. Many of our students have remarked that learning how to contribute back to their community and to people in need has helped them to gain an understanding of how their past actions have impacted family, community and themselves. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Jeffco Action Center and the many possibilities it opens up for our students to participate in restorative community justice.
